Violence during Cockroach Janta Party’s protest in Delhi: Are they fighting for students or just trying to create anarchy

A protest in Delhi by the so called Cockroach Janta Party, that was projected as a movement in support of students, descended into chaos after supporters of tis so called party resorted to violence. Notably, there appeared to be little visible participation from the very students this party claims to represent.

Videos circulating on social media showed clashes between protesters and police personnel, with barricades being pushed, roads blocked, and attempts made to break through security cordons. Delhi Police deployed additional personnel to bring the situation under control and prevent the protest from spilling into nearby areas.

What has drawn attention, however, is the apparent absence of a significant student presence at the demonstration. The protest was advertised as a campaign for student rights, but where are the students? The gathering was dominated by political workers and supporters rather than students themselves. It is clear that this agitation has become more about political optics than genuine student concerns.

The violence also shifted the focus away from whatever demands the organisers had sought to highlight. Images of confrontations with police quickly overshadowed the stated objective of the protest, inviting criticism from across the political spectrum. Peaceful demonstrations are a democratic right, but resorting to violence? What even was that? Do they expect any kind of public support after that?

Delhi Police have not immediately disclosed the total number of detentions or arrests, though action is expected against those found involved in vandalism or assaulting security personnel. Authorities are also reviewing video footage from the protest to identify individuals responsible for the disturbances.
