Popular educator and YouTuber Khan Sir, whose real name is Faisal Khan, has been booked by Patna Police under multiple charges, including attempted murder and provisions of the Arms Act, following a violent incident outside his coaching institute earlier this week.
The case stems from clashes and vandalism reported outside the Khan Global Studies (KGS) coaching centre in Patna on the night of Tuesday, June 2. According to police, a group of around 15 to 20 individuals allegedly attacked the premises, pelted stones, vandalised property and assaulted security personnel, triggering chaos in one of the city’s busiest education hubs. Police had earlier arrested several individuals, including persons linked to a rival coaching institute, in connection with the attack.
The investigation took a dramatic turn after videos circulating on social media allegedly showed security guards associated with the coaching centre opening fire during the disturbance. Following a review of the footage, police detained two guards and seized their weapons for forensic examination.
According to the FIR, the guards allegedly claimed during questioning that they fired on the instructions of Khan Sir. Investigators have cited statements attributed to the guards alleging that the educator ordered them to “fire at the crowd” during the violence. These allegations form the basis of the fresh charges registered against him, including attempted murder. Police officials have stated that Khan Sir will be questioned as part of the ongoing probe.
Khan Sir has not been arrested as of now. However, reports indicate that senior police officials have held high-level meetings regarding the case, and further legal action remains a possibility depending on the findings of the investigation.
The educator has consistently maintained that his institute was the victim of a coordinated attack. Earlier, he alleged that individuals linked to a rival coaching institute may have been behind the violence. His supporters have argued that any actions taken by security personnel were in self-defence amid an assault on the premises. Police, however, say all claims and counterclaims are being examined.
