Cockroach Janta Party, a ‘movement’ that came into existence after the Chief Justice of India Surya Kant made a perfectly normal remark that some unemployed youth and activists to “cockroaches” and “parasites of society”, is protesting in Delhi for several weeks now. The so called movement metamorphosized from this comment to an alleged movement for the rights of students.
These so called cockroaches latched on to the trending topic of NEET exam paper leak and started calling themselves the champions of student rights. However, the interesting thing is that not many students seems to be supporting these people. It was evident once again today, the day Cockroach Janta Party was going to march on the Indian Parliament.
The much publicised march to Parliament turned out to be a damp squib, with hardly any student joining it. There were some ‘andolanjeevis’ and political parties’ workers of course, but one struggled to see any actual student. The Parliament street was quiet and empty except the usual security present there.
The only time this so called protest gained any attention was when the activist Sonam Wangchuk sat on a hunger strike. Now, since he has been taken away to a hospital to address his deteriorating health, the entire thing seems to be fizzling out. The Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke had announced that now he is going to sit on a hunger strike since Sonam Wangchuk has been taken to a hospital. However, within 48 hours, Dipke ji broke his hunger strike.
With this much hyped parliament march also turning out to be a failure, will Cockroach Janta Party continue this farce of a protest, or will they finally say, ok, we don’t even know what we are protesting about, and we have no support of students. Lets see what the handlers of this protest decide.
