The Monsoon session of the Parliament has started today, and ahead of that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media. During his address, PM Modi first of all highlighted the progress India has made in the space sector, mentioning the recent success of the Skyroot‘s launch of Vikram-1.
Prime Minister Modi also mentioned several other major successes from recent times, including the country’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Balotra district of Rajasthan, and the first Hydrogen train in the country. PM Modi talked about the broad vision of India’s transformation, arguing that the country’s rapid economic and technological progress is being driven not merely by government policies but by the aspirations and participation of 1.4 billion Indians.
The Prime Minister also mentioned the challenges faced by the country due to the war in West Asia, where USA and Iran are still at war despite Pakistan claiming they successfully brokered a ceasefire. PM Modi highlighted that the war in West Asia was a major headache for India as it imports most of its oil and fertilisers, but still India managed to grow at 7.7% (highest among major economies).
A central theme of the Prime Minister’s address was the shift in India’s development model. PM Modi said that earlier governments often focused on managing scarcity, whereas the current approach is centred on creating opportunities. He said that reforms in infrastructure, digital governance, manufacturing and welfare have laid the foundation for sustained long-term growth. According to him, India’s development story is no longer confined to major cities but is increasingly reaching villages and smaller towns through improved connectivity and digital services.
PM Modi also hoped that the Monsoon session will lead to a positive discussion in the Parliament, and urged serious discussions on the matters of national importance that lead to improvements in the lives of a common man.
