The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which began its journey as a student-led movement around the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, has now moved well beyond examination reforms and into the heart of national politics. The newly formed party thinks it can now dictate everything in the country. What started with demands for accountability in the education system has gradually expanded to include the Election Commission, the judiciary, and the country’s electoral framework.
The latest set of demands from the CJP is particularly political, the dictatorial party’s demands now are that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar should resign, the 2023 law governing the appointment of Election Commissioners should be repealed, and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls should be rolled back.

The CJP’s demand for the CEC’s resignation comes at a time when political parties are questioning the functioning of the poll panel following the reported internal disagreements. Why shouldn’t poll panel members disagree? This is not a herd of sheep, this is a group of highly educated people who will disagree over decisions, and then they come to a consensus.
The second demand, repeal of the 2023 appointment law, targets the framework under which Election Commissioners are selected.
The third demand is a rollback of SIR, which has become one of the biggest electoral controversies of the year, why does CJP have a problem with the deletion of illegal voters, we don’t know.
But the larger story is the transformation of the CJP itself. It allegedly began as a student movement born out of anger over the NEET paper-leak controversy. Within weeks, however, it had developed into an organised political campaign, demanded a Union minister’s resignation and attracted wider political attention.
Now, with demands targeting the Election Commission and electoral law, the CJP has clearly entered the broader political arena. Whether it remains primarily a youth movement or evolves into a sustained political organisation is the next question.
