Ever since May 4, Mamata Banerjee is suffering one setback after another. First she lost the Bengal assembly elections comprehensively to Bharatiya Janata Party. After losing the Chief Minister chair, Mamata Di lost most of her MLAs and MPs, several Rajya Sabha MPs even resigned from the party, then she is in danger of losing even the party symbol and even the party office. Now, her Bengal Chief has also deserted her.
Trinamool’s West Bengal president Chandrima Bhattacharya, on Saturday, July 4, resigned from all party posts. Her resignation came just a month after her appointment to the post.
Bhattacharya wrote, “I hereby tender my resignation from the post of the state president of All India Trinamool Congress which had been conferred on me in the meeting at Kalighat on June 3. I also hereby resign from all other posts which I hold at present.”
Chandrima Bhattacharya said that she withdrew herself as the authorised signatory of TMC and all other related organisations.
In her statement, Bhattacharya said, “I have no allegations against anyone. I have a grievance against myself that I may have not been able to keep the trust. I was told by party supremo Mamata Banerjee that I had handed over the TMC Bhavan. I am hurt. Who am I to hand over the Bhavan?”
Notably, the rival faction of Trinamool Congress, led by Ritabrata Banerjee had taken over TMC HQ in Kolkata.
