Delhi Police’s special cell has arrested 9 individuals who were planning terror attacks in Delhi and Mumbai . The 9 people arrested have links with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim. The arrested accused are residents of Delhi, Mumbai, and Punjab, some foreign nationals were also part of this terror module.
As per NDTV report, Nuclear facilities, airports, railway stations, and power plants were on their list of targets. A large quantity of ammunition and weapons have been seized from the accused.
The terror cell was reportedly under surveillance for quite some time. The Police is now further investigating their funding and links to Pakistan.
Preliminary investigation has already revealed that the accused were allegedly in touch with Pakistan-backed operatives and were receiving instructions regarding potential targets.
Notably, Delhi has been on a high alert for weeks after intelligence inputs about possible terror attacks. Security agencies had earlier this month received several alerts regarding possible terror attacks targeting prominent offices and crowded areas through suicide attacks, Improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and shootings.
