Aam Aadmi Party was formed in November 2012. The party originated out of the anti-corruption movement led by Anna Hazare. Every member of the movement said they will never join politics, but of course, they did. Aam Aadmi Party was formed with Arvind Kejriwal as the figurehead. Over the past 13+ years, Kejriwal has ruled the party with an authoritarianism that would put Aurangzeb to shame.
One by one, all the original members left, or were forced to leave. The likes of Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan were literally kicked out. Swati Maliwal was beaten out of the party. Interestingly, everyone accused in Delhi Liquor scam wasn’t thrown out of the party. Makes you wonder.
Satyendar Jain remains part of AAP, Manish Sisodia remains part of AAP, but those not related to the Delhi liquor scam have quit one by one. What happened there?
I only remember this song from Kagaz ke Phool movie by Guru Dutt, “Bichhde sabhi baari baari, ab Kejriwal ke political career ko dafan karne ki taiyyari, bichhde sabhi baari baari”.
The latest one to leave is of course Raghav Chadha along with other Rajya Sabha MPs of AAP. They joined BJP. Of course Raghav Chadha’s career in AAP was done the day he started getting more press than Arvind Kejriwal. After all, in AAP, there can only be one media darling and his name is Arvind Kejriwal.
Such a surprise that the Aam Aadmi Party hasn’t grown beyond Delhi and Punjab in last 14 years. While they have been wiped out in Delhi this time, Punjab is just waiting. Kejriwal’s narcissism is pushing everyone away and in turn, AAP is losing political ground.
