Roshibina Devi has once again etched her name in Indian sporting history. The Manipuri wushu star won the silver medal in the women’s 60kg Sanda category at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, securing her third consecutive Asian Games medal.
Roshibina’s journey across the Asian Games is remarkable. She won bronze at Jakarta-Palembang 2018, followed by silver at Hangzhou 2023, and has now added another silver in Nagoya. With this achievement, she has become the first Indian wushu athlete to win medals at three successive Asian Games.
Her road to the podium in 2026 was particularly challenging. Roshibina was not initially selected for the Indian contingent after losing the national trials. She returned to the squad as an injury replacement after Divyanshi Choudhary suffered a serious knee injury. Despite the difficult circumstances surrounding her late selection, Roshibina turned her opportunity into another historic performance.
Once inside the competition, she showed why she remains one of India’s leading wushu athletes. She defeated Macao’s Chu Man Sin 5-0 in the quarterfinal and then beat Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas 2-0 in the semifinal, guaranteeing herself at least a silver medal.
The final against China’s Zhang Xiaoyu proved to be her toughest challenge. Zhang won 2-0, denying Roshibina the gold. But the result does little to diminish the significance of her campaign.
For Roshibina, the silver represents more than another medal. It is the continuation of a remarkable Asian Games legacy and a milestone for Indian wushu. From Manipur to the Asian podium, her consistency has made her one of the country’s most distinguished athletes in the sport.
