After a long tussle with ex-CM Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar finally managed to become the Chief Minister of Karnataka. However, the start of his tenure is turning out to be anything but smooth.
Just a couple of days after the oath taking ceremony of DK Shivakumar, his government has been hit by its first major setback. Senior Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy has stepped down from the cabinet after being denied the Bengaluru Development portfolio. He was instead allocated water resources.
Ramalinga Reddy, 8-time Congress MLA from Bengaluru, tendered in his resignation as he was upset over cabinet portfolios.

However, he will continue as a Congress MLA in the assembly and keep working for the party.
Ramalinga Reddy claimed he was guaranteed the Bengaluru Urban Development (GBA) department. “Back then, I said I don’t want a ministerial berth. But Shivakumar had visited my residence and told me that whenever he goes on to become the chief minister, this department would be given to me,” he said.
