The new terminal, built at the cost of 480 Crores, is spread over 23,000 square meters, and is capable of handling 20 Lakh visitors annually. The terminal is equipped with the state of art technologies to make travel smoother for all the incoming passengers. Notably, Jodhpur is one of the major tourist places in Rajasthan with Mehrangarh Fort and Umaid Bhawan Palace being the main attractions among several others.

The new Jodhpur terminal is also equipped with features such as energy-efficient systems, water conservation measures, and green building practices, highlighting Indian commitment to energy conservation.

At the same time, PM Modi launched the Modified UDAN Scheme, which has an allocation of ₹28,840 crore over the next 10 years. The scheme intends to strengthen and expand air connectivity across the country.

UDAN Scheme

The UDAN scheme is a flagship regional air connectivity programme launched by the Government of India under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS). Its objective is to make air travel affordable and accessible by connecting underserved and unserved airports across the country. Airlines receive financial incentives and viability gap funding to operate flights on these routes.

Under PM Modi’s government, during the last 12 years, several airports have been upgraded and many more have been built to ensure air connectivity to every part of India.

The Jodhpur Airport, which has been built in regal style, to reflect the history of the place, is the latest among this endeavor.
