Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which is fighting for the independence of Balochistan from Pakistan, has said that it has killed 30 Pakistani security personnel in a suicide attack in Gwadar district. Several others have been injured as per a report by Balochistan Post.
The attack was reportedly carried out by the BLA’s Majeed Brigade at a coast guards facility in the Panwan area of Jiwani in Gwadar. This was fidayeen attack. The attack took place on the evening of Friday, July 3.
BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that the coast guards facility has been turned into a rubble following the attack. His statement further read, “Immediately after the attack, our organisation’s vanguard unit, the Fateh Squad, advanced rapidly and in an organised manner, launching an assault on the destroyed camp from all sides.”
Notably, BLA has been fighting for the independence of Balochistan from Pakistan, and regularly launches attacks on Pakistani security forces as it continues its fight for independence. Expectedly, BLA has been designated a terrorist organisation by Pakistan.
Pakistan has long exploited the natural resources present in Balochistan while ignoring the region’s demands for their fair share. This has led to further unrest in the region with the insurgency going on for decades.
