Since past few days, noises from Pakistan are rising over the abeyance of Indus Water Treaty by India. Someone is threatening India with war, someone is threatening to cut Indian hands, someone is issuing some other warnings. They are also holding conferences where they are issuing these warnings to India and trying to claim the Indus Valley Civilisation.
However, India has remained steadfast in its stand that there won’t be any resumption of the Indus Water Treaty till Pakistan continues to support terrorism. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, only again highlighted India’s consistent stand on the issue.
Mr Jaiswal said, “India’s position on the Indus Water Treaty is consistent. The IWT stands in abeyance in response to Pakistan’s continued sponsorship of cross-border terrorism. Pakistan must credibly and irrevocably abjure its support for cross-border terrorism.”

Even though Pakistan is feeling the pinch of the abeyance of Indus Water Treaty, it is still refusing to take any action against the terrorists operating with impunity from Pakistani soil. Notably, the treaty was suspended by India after the terror attack in Pahalgam and the subsequent Operation Sindoor.
Even after suffering heavy losses during Operation Sindoor, Pakistani establishment refused to act against these terror groups, and in fact, came out in support of them.
It is about time that Pakistan understands that if they want the treaty to resume, they will have to stop nurturing and supporting terrorism on its soil, and that their warnings have no impact on India.
