Ever since Trinamnool Congress lost heavily in the recently held assembly elections, the party has been in turmoil with the number of dissidents growing by the day. Much of the anger of the dissident MLAs and MPS, and even the public is targeted at Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
While these rebels have no issue working under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, the arrogance and high handedness of Abhishek Banerjee has rubbed a number of the rebels the wrong way. Now, senior TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee has issued an ultimatum to Mamata Banerjee- Either choose her nephew Abhishek or the rest of the party leaders.
Kalyan Banerjee said that Abhishek disrespected seniors, they never trusted him, and was responsible for the party’s downfall.
Kalyan Banerjee said, “I am with Mamata Di, but she needs to choose now. It is too humiliating. At midnight, I was told the lawyer had been changed. He doesn’t know how to respect seniors. Abhishek never trusted me, and he will never trust me. Who is he? Such an arrogant person. For him, the party has been destroyed.”
The Lok Sabha MP further said, “Mamata has to first decide that, yes, she cannot move the party without Abhishek. Then I will not be there.”
Mamata Banerjee, who is currently in Delhi, is yet to respond to Kalyan Banerjee’s comments.
