AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal has said that any Delhi High Court judge other than Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma should hear his case linked to Delhi liquor policy scam. Kejriwal has asserted he wouldn’t appear before Justice Sharma, who had earlier refused to recuse herself from the case on grounds of alleged bias, the allegations were levelled by Mr Kejriwal himself.

Kejriwal has written a letter to Justice Sharma, expressing doubts over whether he would get justice in her court and added in the letter that he would challenge her refusal to recuse herself from the case.

In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Arvind Kejriwal wrote, “In all humility and with complete respect for judiciary, I have written the following letter to Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma, informing her that pursuing Gandhian principles of Satyagraha, it won’t be possible for me to pursue this case in her court, either in person or through a counsel.”

He further added, “I have taken this difficult decision after coming to the clear conclusion that the proceedings being conducted in her court do not, in any manner, satisfy the fundamental principle that ‘justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done’. My participation in these proceedings, either myself or through a counsel will not achieve anything meaningful.”

Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma had earlier rejected Kejriwal’s petition for her to back out from hearing matters related to the liquor policy scam, stating that judicial integrity cannot be put to trial by litigants.
