A group of 215 academics and researchers has issued a public statement criticising Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over her “cow urine” remark directed at the IIT Madras Director Professor Prof. V. Kamakoti. The statement describes the comment as inappropriate and detrimental to academic discourse. The signatories said that disagreements with scholars should be addressed through evidence-based debate rather than personal or derogatory remarks.
Shockingly, Priyanka Vadra used this language against the IIT Director within the Parliament, making one wonder if this is now what Parliament sessions are for? But then the privileged Gandhi siblings utter any nonsense whenever they bother to visit the Parliament.
According to the statement, the academics expressed concern that such rhetoric could undermine respect for educational institutions and discourage researchers from participating in public policy discussions. They emphasised that universities and research institutions should remain spaces where differing viewpoints can be debated freely without fear of ridicule or personal attacks. However, Priyanka Vadra indulged in the total opposite; she ridiculed one of the most high profile professors in India.
