If Mamata Banerjee ends up in opposition in West Bengal, how she will be a responsible opposition: A liberal’s dream

Table of Contents

Hello, I am a liberal of India, and I worry about the state of democracy in India 24×7. Thankfully, we have leaders like Mamata Banerjee of Trinamool Congress who keep our faith in democracy.

The exit poll data from Bengal suggests that Mamata Banerjee will have to sit in opposition in Bengal assembly.

So I dreamt what would a Mamata opposition look like in Bengal. I dreamt that she would be co-operating with the new Bengal government for the upliftment of the state. Mamata Banerjee would be helping in the smooth takeover of the state for them.

In fact, I dreamt that Mamata Banerjee will even help the new Bengal government in making the state an industrial hub once again. She would work side by side to ensure that the state recovers from its declining economy to economy to fight with the heavyweight states of India.

After all, Bengal, and Kolkata in particular, was the industrial hub of India at one point so Mamata Di will help to reignite that industrialism in that state in partnership with the new government.

Surely, she will not disrupt the new development projects introduced by the new government, that is what we dream of.

Now Bangladeshis will be deported from Bengal and there won’t be any opposition, because government and opposition will work hand in hand.

Further, we expect she will take her defeat, if it happens, in Bengal elections in sporting spirit, and will not create a ruckus over the result. After all, in democracy, people’s will reigns supreme.

All the criticism of deployment of central forces in Bengal will evaporate overnight as that was just electoral rhetoric. All the opposition of neutral observers during counting will also disappear, that is what we dream.

Oh wait, I just got awake, forget my dream, we know what is going to happen.
