Delhi blast investigation: Cash-purchased Brezza, 32 cars & Al-Falah link

Delhi blast investigation Cash purchased Brezza, 32 cars & Al Falah link

The Delhi car blast investigation has widened dramatically, with probe agencies now linking at least thirty-two vehicles to what is being described as a planned serial “revenge” attack scheduled for December 6, the anniversary of the Babri disputed structure demolition.

Sources told NDTV that Shaheen Saeed and Muzammil Shakeel, both doctors associated with Al-Falah University in Faridabad, purchased a new Maruti Suzuki Brezza on September 25, allegedly as part of the plot.

A photograph accessed by investigators shows the duo taking delivery of the silver Brezza, registered as HR 87U 9988. The payment, sources said, was made entirely in cash.

The Brezza is now among the vehicles recovered by agencies. It was found inside the campus of the Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences and Research Centre — a location that has increasingly become central to the ongoing probe.

Investigators believe the Brezza was one among 32 cars being prepped to carry explosives or serve as delivery vehicles for coordinated strikes across multiple cities.

These included the Hyundai i20 that exploded near the Red Fort last Monday, killing 15 people and injuring several others. That vehicle, driven by suicide bomber Umar un Nabi, was allegedly meant for a high-footfall target.

Umar, also a Kashmiri doctor affiliated with Al-Falah University, had reportedly planned to detonate the i20 near Red Fort’s parking area, a crowded tourist spot.

However, he panicked following the arrest of Saeed and Shakeel earlier that day in connection with what authorities called a “white-collar” terror module.

Investigators say Umar did not realise that the Red Fort is closed on Mondays. Finding no crowd, he waited in the empty parking area for nearly three hours before driving out and detonating the car near a traffic signal outside Red Fort Metro Station.

Recovered vehicles and seizures

Multiple cars linked to the plot have now surfaced:

  • Maruti Brezza (HR 87U 9988): Found on the Al-Falah Medical College campus.
  • Maruti Swift Dzire: Seized last Monday with an assault rifle and ammunition inside.
  • Red Ford EcoSport (DL10 CK 0458): Found abandoned in Faridabad on Wednesday.

Officials say additional vehicles may still be untraced.

Just hours before the Red Fort blast, the Jammu & Kashmir Police announced the busting of a major interstate and transnational terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, an al-Qaeda affiliate.

The police confiscated 2,900 kg of explosive materials, including large quantities of ammonium nitrate, believed to have been used in the Delhi explosion.

With three arrested individuals and multiple recovered vehicles all tied to Al-Falah University, investigators are scrutinising the campus for its possible role as:

  • A logistical hub
  • A storage and assembly point
  • A recruitment pipeline for educated “white-collar” operatives

The university administration has not issued an official statement yet.

Authorities are now piecing together the larger conspiracy, Red Fort Suicide Blast: Inside the 32-Car ‘Revenge’ Plot Exposed by Police, how the vehicles were procured, how the explosives were moved, and whether the module had additional operatives ready for December 6.
