The security breach at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled inauguration of the Global Fintech Fest 2026 at Mumbai’s Jio World Centre has certainly left countrymen shocked and worried. But it has certainly not dampened the enthusiasm at the Fintech fest.
The security scare incident took place on September 7, a day ahead of Global Fintech Fest 2026 , when an individual tried to pose as an official from PMO and made an attempt to enter the venue. The individual, later identified as 24-year-old Rohan Parekh, even came with a bodyguard. Rohan also had a fake PMO official identity card.
The duo was detained by the vigilant security officials, who got suspicious of him. On search, a gun was also recovered from the accompanying bodyguard. However, the weapon was found to be licensed.
PM is attending Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai this evening. Global Fintech Fest 2026 is one of the world’s largest fintech conferences. Beginning today, the four-day global fintech gathering is bringing together policymakers, regulators, central bankers, financial institutions, startups, investors and technology leaders from across the globe.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken over the investigation and trying to ascertain the reasons why the duo entered the PM’s Mumbai event venue. Their motive is also being investigated. So far, the Mumbai police have also categorically held that the security breach incident took place yesterday and it was not proper to directly connect it with the PM’s visit to Mumbai today.
