Israel has confirmed that it has killed the commander of Hamas’s military wing, Mohammed Odeh, in a strike in Gaza on Tuesday, May 26. This comes just days after he took over after his predecessor died in a similar attack.
Less than 2 weeks back, his predecessor Iz al-Din al-Hadad was taken out by Israel in a targeted attack, after which Odeh became the military wing chief of the terror outfit Hamas.
Since the October 7, 2023, terror attack by Hamas on Israel, the Israeli Defense Forces have eliminated Hamas leadership one by one, sometimes eliminating the new commander within days of his taking command. Odeh has become the latest target of this cleaning exercise by Israel.
Israel’s military said that buildings that served as a hideout for Odeh were targeted after his movements were tracked for several months. There has been no comment as yet from Hamas over the loss of their top commander.
In their statement, IDF said, “ELIMINATED: Mohammed Odeh – Head of Hamas’ Military Wing in a strike in northern Gaza. Odeh served as the Head of Hamas’ military wing following the elimination of Izz al-Din al-Haddad. As part of his role, he was responsible for planning and coordinating Hamas terrorists’ infiltration and attack targets during the October 7 Massacre.”

They also said that they had also struck a nearby apartment belonging to a Hamas terrorist who raided on October 7 and was part of Odeh’s circle of assistants.
