In April 2026, protests broke out in Noida, Uttar Pradesh over wage hike of workers. The protests turned violent on 4th day, and about 300 protestors were arrested.

Now, the Police has Police claim that over ₹1 crore in foreign currency was sent to Satyam Verma, one of the accused in the violent Noida labour protests. National Security Act has also been invoked in the case.

In its statement, the police said the amount was received in the form of dollars, pounds and euros in the bank account of the accused Satyam Verma.

Satyam Verma, an active member of the Left-wing workers’ rights group ‘Bigul Mazdoor Dasta’, allegedly received these credits in his personal account and subsequently transferred the money to other accounts.

The Police statement said, “During investigation into the cases registered in connection with these incidents, several startling facts regarding the accused, Satyam Verma, have come to light.”

Another accused Akriti apparently also played a key role in the protests along with Verma.

“Consequently, action has been initiated against both accused persons under the National Security Act,” the statement added.

Verma was arrested from Lucknow on April 19 for instigating violence during the protests.

These protests and allegations of foreign currency being transferred to the accused once again highlights how some elements sitting in foreign countries try to disrupt peace in India and derail it from the path of progress.

Notably, 40,000 to 50,000 workers had gathered in Noida during these protests which turned violent and disrupted the law and order in the state.

Following the protests, the Uttar Pradesh government decided to increase minimum wages by 20 percent.
