JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has claimed that the PML-N government in Pakistan is powerless and the military makes decisions, criticizing Pakistan’s security policies and foreign policy.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman told a rally in Rawalpindi on February 8 that neighboring countries are upset due to Pakistan’s flawed foreign policy. He said the government claims terrorists come from Afghanistan, so if that’s the case, why doesn’t the military stop them at the border areas?

He said, “Everyone wants to ask why, from Zahir Shah to the Taliban, various governments have come in Afghanistan, but none have been able to stay with Pakistan. Why?”

Rehman added, “Iran and China are also upset with us due to our flawed policies, and so is Afghanistan. Before criticizing others, have you considered why Pakistan’s Afghan policy has failed in 78 years?”

Maulana Fazlur Rehman questioned the government and security agencies, saying, “You say terrorists come from Afghanistan, so if they come, why don’t you stop them? It’s strange that not a single pomegranate can come from Afghanistan, but terrorists can come?”

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said, “If terrorists are coming from Afghanistan, stop them, don’t let them come. They haven’t complained about you. It’s strange that not a single pomegranate can come from Afghanistan, but terrorists can come.”

He spoke in Rawalpindi, saying, “One general says negotiate, another says fight. There’s no government, decisions are made by generals. People in our area feel this isn’t Pakistan, and the effects have reached Islamabad, where worshippers are being targeted in mosques.”

He further said that this means there’s no government and questioned how long will you deceive people with beautiful words? We stood with you when you showed courage against India, but who will trust us on internal policy? Our people and money are going out, he further said.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said one military leader talks of negotiating with militants, while another talks of war. He said this contradictory policy has led to such insecurity that the government’s authority has been undermined.

The Pakistani federal government and military have not commented on Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s allegations. However, in the past, they have repeatedly claimed to have conducted thousands of targeted operations against terrorism and sacrificed thousands of soldiers for peace.

The Pakistani federal government and military blame insecurity in the country on militants who, they claim, plan terrorist activities from Afghanistan.

The Taliban government in Kabul denies this, saying Afghanistan’s soil is not used against anyone, and Pakistani militants are based in tribal areas and Baluchistan.
