The Taliban’s Defense Minister, Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, has dismissed Pakistan’s claims of India’s involvement in recent clashes as baseless. He emphasized that their government seeks to expand relations with India while pursuing good relations with Pakistan based on mutual interests and good neighborliness.
“Our policy is not to use one country against another,” he said, adding that these claims are unfounded and don’t contribute to resolving issues.
“Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a cabinet meeting last week that India is behind the recent conflicts between Afghanistan and Pakistan. He claimed that when Pakistan was being attacked, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister was in India, and India is involved in all these issues.”
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a cabinet meeting last week that India is behind the recent conflicts between Afghanistan and Pakistan. He claimed that when Pakistan was being attacked, the Taliban’s Foreign Minister was in India, and India is involved in all these issues.
Pakistan’s military officials have also repeatedly accused India of supporting armed groups along the Durand Line, which India denies. The Indian Foreign Ministry called these allegations baseless, saying Pakistan is itself a hub of terrorism. The Taliban’s Defense Minister warned that Afghanistan won’t allow anyone to attack it and will respond strongly if provoked.
“We haven’t attacked Pakistan or violated their sovereignty. It was the Pakistanis who initiated the fighting against us, destroyed our areas, and we responded,” Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid said, adding that they are committed to implementing the ceasefire agreement brokered by Qatar and Turkey. He expressed hope that further discussions will take place in Turkey to implement the agreement and stay committed to it.
Last week, intense clashes broke out between Taliban and Pakistani forces along the Durand Line after the Pakistani military conducted airstrikes in the capital, Kabul. Both sides suffered casualties during the clashes along the border.
The Pakistani airstrikes have also resulted in civilian casualties, with the recent notable incident being the killing of several Afghan civilians, including three cricket players, in Paktika.
