Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka and other party activists were confronted and chased away by villagers during a visit to Rampura-Kanwarpura village in Rajasthan’s Jaipur district on Friday, August 21. The incident took place as the group was attempting to inspect a government primary school as part of the party’s “School Theek Karo” campaign.
CJP has self-proclaimed itself to be the representative of Indian students, but it looks like the public has had enough of their shenanigans.
According to reports, the CJP delegation faced strong opposition from local residents after arriving at the village. A video of the incident showed activists being confronted by villagers and subsequently forced to leave the area following a heated exchange. Windows of vehicles belonging to the delegation were also reportedly damaged.

Ranka later alleged that members of the team were physically attacked during the confrontation. He claimed that vehicle windows were smashed, phones were broken, a woman accompanying the team was assaulted, and one member suffered a fractured hand. Ranka also said his shirt was torn during the incident. He demanded action against those responsible and issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar, threatening a statewide agitation if arrests were not made.
The confrontation comes amid a wider dispute between the CJP and the Rajasthan government over access to government schools. The state administration has recently imposed restrictions concerning visits by outsiders to government schools, adding another layer to the controversy surrounding the CJP’s campaign.
Ranka, who hails from Jaipur and has studied at IIT Kanpur and the London School of Economics, became one of the prominent faces of the CJP after joining its campaign on education and student issues. He was appointed a co-convener of the organisation earlier this month.
The incident is likely to intensify the political confrontation between the CJP and the Rajasthan government, particularly over the condition of rural schools and the right of political activists to inspect and highlight shortcomings in public institutions.
