As per media reports, LS-6 bombs were dropped from JF-17 fighter jets on the Pashtun-majority village, Matre Dara at around 2 am, destroying a large part of the village. Several people were left injured.
As per local media reports, the said jets were supposedly targeting Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) hideout in the area. The TTP is officially designated as a terror group. However, all those who were killed were civilians. The toll is expected to rise as the rescue operations are still on.
Earlier on Sunday, Pakistan army claimed that seven TTP terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan district. Of the seven, three were reportedly Afghan nationals and two were suicide bombers.
