Ten persons injured in attack on convoy of Deputy Commissioner in Turbat

In a recent attack on the convoy of the Deputy Commissioner of Kech District in Balochistan, 10 people were injured.

Police say an attack was carried out on the Deputy Commissioner of Kech District in Turbat, Balochistan, but he was unharmed.

Turbat police chief Nazir Ahmad told that on the morning of October 27, Deputy Commissioner Major (Retd) Bashir Barezai was travelling in a convoy from Quetta to Kech when a bomb exploded, but he was unharmed.

However, 10 people, including 9 Levies Force personnel, were injured said nearby shops and vehicles were also damaged in the blast. According to him, preliminary investigations suggest the bomb was planted on a motorcycle. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The body of Balochistan’s Nushki police chief, Muhammad Yousaf Reki, was found after being abducted by unknown gunmen days earlier. Earlier, on October 9, a railway track explosion in Dera Murad Jamali killed a railway official.

On October 22, armed men killed two policemen in Nushki, and no one claimed responsibility for the attack. Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are two provinces in Pakistan where attacks on authorities, civilians, and security forces occur almost daily.

Both provinces are home to active militant groups, including the Taliban and Baloch separatists, against whom the Pakistani military continues targeted operations.

On, Otherside, in targeted attacks in Bannu and North Waziristan, 1 policeman and 1 civilian were killed.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police officials say armed men killed a policeman and a civilian in two separate incidents in Bannu and North Waziristan.

According to a statement released by Bannu police officials, Constable Javed Khan was attacked by unidentified gunmen while heading home from the Khujuri police post on the morning of October 28. The gunmen fled the scene after killing him, and police have launched a search operation.

Meanwhile, North Waziristan police officials told that unidentified gunmen shot and killed a local man named Sardar Nawaz in the Miramshah market this morning. Locals say the attackers carried out the attack and fled the scene.

Earlier, on October 22, unidentified gunmen in the Mirli area of North Waziristan opened fire on a vehicle, killing six people, and then set the vehicle on fire, burning the bodies. Prior to that, on September 10, militants killed a former police constable in Mirli, North Waziristan. The October 28 incident in North Waziristan marks the 21st targeted attack in the region in 2025, with most going unclaimed.

In North Waziristan, dozens of attacks over the past few years have killed many civilian leaders, activists, clerics, politicians, former militants, government officials, and ordinary citizens.

Along with North Waziristan, recent targeted attacks have also occurred in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, alarming local residents about security concerns.

People in those areas have held widespread protests, jirgas, and demonstrations against the insecurity.

However, the Pakistani government and military say they are committed to ending terrorism and continue targeted operations against militants. In 2024, there were 37 targeted attacks in North Waziristan, resulting in significant civilian casualties, including local leaders, human rights activists, and government officials.

After the return of hundreds of thousands of displaced people to the area in 2016, there was a period of relative calm. However, targeted and other attacks resumed in late 2018, with a notable increase since 2022.
