Samajwadi Party’s senior leader Azam Khan, who has been named in various legal cases previously, now has been convicted in a fraud PAN cards case. Notably, Azam Khan’s son Abdullah Azam Khan has also been convicted in the case. The father-son duo have been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment each.

The complaint stated that Abdullah Azam Khan possessed two PAN cards: one with a birth date of January 1, 1993 and another with September 30, 1990. The complaint was filed by BJP leader Akash Saxena in 2019. Now, 6 years later, the father-son duo have been convicted in the case.

Reacting to the judgment, Azam Khan said, “I don’t want to say anything, it is the decision of the court, they considered me guilty, and gave the punishment.”

According to the court, Azam Khan conspired with his son to create and use forged documents and altered bank records. Apparently he did it to replace his old PAN card with the newly forged version ahead of Abdullah’s nomination for the Swar Assembly seat. His son Abdullah went on to win that seat.

This is not the first time that Azam Khan has been in legal trouble. Azam Khan has been accused in dozens of cases of land grabbing and criminal intimidation. He was earlier sent to jail in 2020 in an alleged cheating case. Later, he got bail in that case. Then again, he was sent to jail in an alleged hate speech case, where again he got bail a year later.

Now, this is the latest legal trouble for the veteran Samajwadi Party leader.
