PTI supporters in Peshawar rally for Imran Khan’s release

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held a protest rally in Peshawar demanding the release of their founder, Imran Khan.

The rally, led by PTI leaders such as Barrister Gohar, Umar Ayub, and Azam Swati, featured party workers chanting slogans like “Release Imran Khan”. The protesters emphasized that Imran Khan’s imprisonment is an attack on democracy and the people’s will.

Similar protests were staged in other cities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with leaders like Sher Afzal Marwat and Faisal Javed Khan calling for Imran Khan’s immediate release.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters held a protest rally in Peshawar, demanding the release of their imprisoned leader, Imran Khan. This demonstration is part of a larger movement by PTI workers across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling for Imran Khan’s immediate release.

Party leaders disclosed that thousands of people took part in the protest, demanding that the Pakistani government release former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was initially arrested on May 9, 2023, in connection with the Al-Qadir Trust case. However, the Supreme Court deemed his arrest unlawful and ordered his release. Unfortunately, Khan was rearrested in August 2023 on charges of corruption related to the Toshakhana case and has been imprisoned in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail since then.

Additional cases were later filed against him, with some courts ordering his release. Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and PTI deny the charges, claiming all cases against them are politically motivated.

PTI supporters continue to protest for their leader’s release, even after an anti-terrorism court sentenced over 100 PTI members to prison terms on July 31st. PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stated that they will appeal the verdict in a higher court. He told reporters in Islamabad that the “political cases against PTI politicians are baseless.”
