The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has released its 2023 data. According to the data, there has been a significant decline in extremist and terrorist incidents in 2023 compared to 2022. There were 446 such incidents in 2022, while 163 incidents were recorded in 2023.
NCRB data shows that there were 126 cases of Jihadi terrorist activities in 2022, while in 2023, there were 15, meaning there has been an 87 percent decline in Jihadi terrorist incidents. Similarly, a 77 percent decline in terrorist attacks and a 44 percent decline in Left Wing Extremist violence has been recorded.
Furthermore, insurgency incidents in the Northeast have declined by 61 percent compared to 2022. This means that, whether it’s Jihadi terrorist incidents, terrorist incidents, Naxalite attacks, or insurgency incidents in the Northeast, almost all forms of violence have decreased compared to 2022.
With the decline in such incidents, the number of deaths in such incidents has also declined. Civilian and security personnel, including 118, died in 2022, compared to 103 in 2023. Significantly, civilian deaths have declined, while security personnel deaths have increased.
The NCRB data once again confirms that the Modi government at the Center is dealing with terrorists, Naxalites, and insurgents with a firm hand. This is the reason that not only terrorist incidents have reduced in Kashmir but Naxalites and militants of North East are also on the verge of extinction.
