Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) naval commander Alireza Tangsiri has been reportedly killed in a US-Israeli strike in the coastal area of Bandar Abbas. Tangsiri had led the IRGC Navy since August 2018, and was overseeing the blockade of Strait of Hormuz by the Persian country.

Though it is highly suspected that it was a US-Israel led strike that killed him, there is no confirmation as of now.

Tangsiri had been very bullish in recent days about Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz. He had also threatened America’s oil facilities in the region.

Tangsiri had said, “Our list of targets is updated. Oil facilities associated with America are now on par with American bases and will come under fire with full force.”

If confirmed, this will be the latest of the high profile casualty in Iran since the war broke out on February 28. This will also be a body blow to the Iranian Navy as they try to keep control of the Strait of Hormuz against American and Israeli attacks.

Iran or Israeli military are yet to issue an official statement about the same.
