At least 10 people have been killed and 26 others injured in a suicide attack near the Frontier Corps force center in Quetta, Pakistan.
Unofficial sources have revealed that more than 10 soldiers are killed in this incident, which includes Pakistan Army Major Idrees, infamous for killing Balochs mercilessly.
The incident occurred on September 30 during morning hours near the paramilitary force center in Model Town, Quetta.
Baluchistan Health Minister Bakht Kakar told the media that at least 10 people were killed and 26 injured in the explosion. According to him, the bodies of the deceased and the injured have been shifted to Quetta Civil Hospital.
After the explosion, smoke was seen rising from the Model Town area of the city, and gunfire sounds were also heard. Hamid Khan, a resident of Shehbaz Town in Quetta, said that the explosion was so loud that he felt like it happened in their own house.
He said gunfire sounds were also heard after the explosion. Hamid Khan added that when he went outside, he saw a vehicle on the road with shattered glass. According to him, drivers told him that the explosion occurred in a Suzuki vehicle. “Drivers said the explosion took place near the FC (central office),” he said. He stated that due to the force of the blast, the glass of his vehicle’s windows also shattered.
The explosion was so massive that its impact was felt in Pashin Stop, Model Town, Shehbaz Town, and other surrounding areas, while the sound was heard across Quetta. Many vehicles were also damaged in the explosion.
After the blast, the provincial authorities declared a state of emergency in Quetta’s hospitals and summoned all medical staff to the hospitals immediately.
Baluchistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said in a speech at Quetta’s Girls College that it was a suicide attack. He stated that the attackers were trying to enter the FC center when soldiers opened fire on them.
He said, “Terrorists want schools, universities, colleges, hospitals, and parks to be closed, but despite their attacks, all these institutions remain open.”
He further said that terrorists will not be allowed to achieve their goals. So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the incident.
Militant groups in Baluchistan frequently attack government buildings, police, and the military. Earlier, on September 18, 6 people were killed in a bomb blast in Chaman.
This is despite the fact that security has increased significantly in Baluchistan over the past two years. Meanwhile, the Pakistani military also claims to have inflicted casualties on militants in operations and clashes in Baluchistan from time to time.
In Baluchistan, the separatist group Baluchistan Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for some attacks on various occasions.
The group, which has been designated as a terrorist organization by both Pakistan and the United States, has been waging an armed struggle for independence from Pakistan for years. The Baluchistan Liberation Army says that they are not terrorists, but rather fighting for their rights.
