Earlier this week, BBC Director General Tim Davie and BBC’s news CEP Deborah Turness were forced to resign after the British Broadcasting Corporation was caught editing a speech of US President Donald Trump. The British broadcaster spliced together different parts of Trump’s speech to try and show that he incited the crowds for the January 6, 2021 violence in Washington DC.
Now, Donald Trump has shared that he plans to sue BBC for at least $1 Billion which may rise to as much as $5 Billion for defaming him and editing his speech.
On board Air Force One, Donald Trump told reporters, “We’ll sue them for anywhere between a billion and $5bn, probably sometime next week. We have to do it.”
Earlier, the BBC had issued an apology to Trump on Thursday, November 13, acknowledging the edited speech. However, Trump is not in the mood to let the British broadcaster get off so easily.
Notably, a whistleblower had revealed to The Telegraph newspaper that the BBC’s flagship investigative program Panorama spliced together parts of Trump’s speech to make it appear as though he encouraged the rioters on January 6, telling supporters he would walk with them to “fight like hell”.
This is just the latest scandal to plague BBC which is suffering from a severe lack of credibility following one scandal after another.
