Inderjeet Singh Gosal, who has been leading Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) organisation in Canada following the 2023 assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, has had gun possession charges against him stayed by an Ontario court. SFJ is a banned terrorist organisation in India.
Gosal, along with two other Khalistanis, Jagdeep Singh from New York and Arman Singh from Toronto, was arrested at a traffic stop in Ontario on September 19, 2025, when police found a loaded handgun in their car. The three were charged with the firearm offence, but the case against Arman Singh and Jagdeep Singh was dropped two months later.
Since the charges have been stayed, if the prosecution doesn’t reopen the case within a year, the charges will be automatically dropped.
Gosal is a key aide of SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun (designated terrorist by India), and handles the organisation’s activities in Canada. He was also arrested in November last year by Peel Regional Police over violence at the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton. However, he was soon granted bail in that case.
After the stay on the charges against him, Gosal vowed to continue his pro-Khalistan activities. He said, “Since the gun charges and all the travel restrictions have been removed, I’ll be concentrating on organizing the Oct. 18 calls on referendum that will be taking place in Alberta.”
Gosal became the head of SFJ in Canada after Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed on June 18, 2023. Nijjar’s death soured India-Canada relationship as Canada blamed India for his murder. However, Canada is yet to provide any proof to support those allegations.
