The beloved legend of Bollywood, the original “He-Man” of Hindi films, Dharmendra has passed away aged 89, just days ahead of his 90th birthday.
Dharmendra, considered one of the most handsome actors in the history of Hindi cinema, was born in Ludhiana district in Punjab before moving to Bombay (now Mumbai).
He acted in several successful movies during his career and was one of the most bankable stars in the history of Hindi film industry. Whether it was critically acclaimed movies like Anpadh, Bandini, Satyakam, or mega commercial hits like Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke, Seeta aur Geeta, Yaadon ki Baraat, Dharamveer, and of course Sholay, Dharmendra was loved by the audience in every role.
Dharmendra was active in movies even till his later years, with his final movie Ikkis set to release in December this year.
His sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol from his first marriage are both accomplished actors, while his daughters from his second marriage to superstar Hema Malini, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, have also been actresses.
Notably, rumours of Dharmendra’s death had circulated a few times in media in the past, but unfortunately, this time, it really is true.
Many film personalities have offered their condolences after the unfortunate demise of the man who was and will always remain, the He-Man of Indian cinema.
