Bahrain-Saudi Arabia causeway, the lifeline of Bahrain, closed over threats from Iran

Bahrain is an island country in the Persian Gulf, or Arabian Gulf, depends on which side you swing, its only connection via land is through the King Fahd Causeway that connects Bahrain to Saudi Arabia, and now that is under threat. After US blew up Iran’s tallest bridge, Iran had issued a threat that they will target 8 bridges in countries that are US allies. One of those bridges was King Fahd Causeway that is the lifeline for Bahrain.

Bahrain, an island nation, has only one land connection to the rest of the world, that is this 25 Kilometers long bridge that connects it to Saudi Arabia. Every day, import and export worth millions takes place through this bridge, thousands visit Saudi from Bahrain, and Bahrain from Saudi using this bridge. Now that this bridge is being closed due to Iran war tensions, it is a major issue for Bahrain and its economy.

The bridge opened in 1986 and was the first instance of a bridge connecting an island to nearest island through a sea bridge. This causeway had also served Bahrain as a fallback during previous disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. It is absolutely essential for Bahrain for movement of people, essential supplies, and commercial transport between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, their closest partner.

This again highlights how common people are suffering in the region due to the ongoing war in Iran and the Gulf. People who have nothing to do with the war will now have to worry about their basic supplies (that come from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain) because their lifeline has to be closed due to the threats from Iran.
